Magnetometry

Based on the measurement of variations in the earth's magnetic field.

Magnetic prospecting is a technique based on the measurement and surveying of variations in the Earth's magnetic field, obtaining measurements of the total value of the magnetic field or, as an option, of the gradient of the magnetic field. These variations are caused by the presence of bodies that can be magnetized and that for that reason modify the Earth’s magnetic field around them.

Main applications:

  • Geological and mining exploration.
  • Measurement of rock properties.
  • Soil contamination studies.
  • Searches for buried objects and bodies.
  • Location of underground metal objects.
  • Detection of buried mines, grenades, and shells.
  • Archaeology.
