Seismographs for blasting and vibrations

These comply with US USBM/OSMRE, German DIN 4150 and Spanish UNE 22381 standards.

The measurement and recording of the intensity and frequency of the seismic vibrations and sound waves produced by blasting in mining operations, quarries, construction of public works, demolitions, etc., are mandatory because they can affect nearby structures, buildings, urban areas, etc. to varying degrees.

Depending on the model, blasting seismographs may be equipped with digital recording of the signals picked up by a triaxial geophone, plus a microphone for the acoustic wave, or other combinations of sensors, and with additional simultaneous graphical recording on a plotter or printer incorporated into the unit. In many cases, on-site graphic recording is required by the authorities in order to guarantee the accuracy of the data and to ensure that it has not been manipulated, when these records are to be used as certification in official reports.

The digital seismographs for blasting recorders offered by GEONICA comply with U.S. standards USBM/OSMRE, with the German standard DIN 4150, and the Spanish standard UNE 22381, which have been adopted by the multiple Ministries of Industry and countless companies in the mining sector, quarries, etc.

These seismographs are supplied with specific software for downloading the data to a computer, which also makes it possible to generate graphical and numerical reports with the most important recorded data (peak values, frequencies, etc.). As an option, additional processes including, for example, frequency spectrum analysis (FFT), data filtering, modification of scales, linear regressions, etc., can also be carried out using an advanced version of the software.

Main applications

  • Mining operations, quarries, etc.
  • Monitoring of blasting (seismic and acoustic wave).
  • Monitoring of bridges, dams, tunnels and structures.
  • Recording of vibrations produced by public works machinery.
